The Allegro is now three years old so I'd say it's the previous gen tech :) I flew the M2 against Daron's Allegro which is about a year old but not many hours. Also against Dave's Allegro which is about two years old with more hours. We didn't really focus on the speed but the general impression is that they're very comparable and the M2 can comfortably fly long XCs with other C wings.
